Job summary

Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory is seeking Radiation Control Technicians to join the Radiation Protection Group at Berkeley, CA. The role focuses on radiological surveys, monitoring of areas and personnel, and incident response to maintain safety and compliance.

Two levels (747.1 and 747.2) involve escalating survey responsibilities and qualification requirements. The position is on-site at 1 Cyclotron Road with overtime eligibility and union representation.

Qualifications

• Basic knowledge of radiation safety and measurement concepts.
• DOE-qualified radiation control technician status by training.
• Two years of technical college or equivalent experience/education.

Responsibilities

• Perform radiological surveys (radiation, contamination, airborne) and generate related reports.
• Conduct routine surveys of labs, construction areas, and remediation sites.
• Perform release surveys of materials and equipment from radiological areas.
• Post/label areas controlled for radiological purposes.
• Assist with incidents and emergency responses.
• Provide advanced radiological support during packaging and shipment of radioactive materials.
