Job summary

Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory is seeking Radiation Control Technicians to join the Radiation Protection Group. You will support radiological operations, performing surveillance and surveys of work areas, monitoring personnel and environmental conditions, and assisting with incidents and emergency responses.

At the 747.1 level you perform routine radiological work and surveys under supervision, with opportunities to advance.

Qualifications

Basic knowledge of radiation safety and measurement concepts.
Expected to achieve and maintain status as a DOE-qualified radiation control technician (RCT).
Demonstrated ability to work independently with broad directions.
Must meet physical requirements including prolonged standing/walking and lifting up to 40 lbs.
Respirator qualification expected.

Responsibilities

Perform radiological surveys and generate documents, reports and audits.
Conduct routine radiological surveys of labs and other areas.
Post/label areas and items controlled for radiological purposes.
Respond to radiological incidents and emergencies under supervision.
Support packaging, shipment and material control related to radioactive materials.
