Job summary

Washington University in St. Louis seeks a Radiation Safety Specialist to support the WashU and WashU School of Medicine safety program. You will work on radioactive materials, sources, and associated hazards while developing a broad technical base over time.

The role involves supervising project tasks or technical teams, plus coordinating EH&S training to improve programs and compliance with federal, state, and local rules.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or combination of education and/or experience may substitute for minimum education.
• Relevant experience in radiation safety or health physics strongly preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills for complex technical information.

Responsibilities

• Perform inspections, surveys, measurements, and data evaluation in radiation safety.
• Coordinate, lead technical assignments, and train staff in safety procedures.
• Assist in waste management, QA documentation and incident reporting.
• Respond to radiation incidents and support emergency response planning.
