Job summary

The Arizona Department of Health Services is seeking a Radioactive Materials/Xray Inspector in Phoenix. The role conducts inspections of licensees/registrants to ensure radiation safety, evaluates facilities and procedures, and participates in improving inspection techniques and standards.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of principles, theories, and practices related to radiation safety and environmental protection.
• Understanding of licensing/registration and compliance standards for radiation use.
• Familiarity with performance management, CQI and Lean methodologies.

Responsibilities

• Plan and conduct inspections and technical reviews of licensee activities related to radiation safety.
• Evaluate applicants' education, training and experience for safe use of ionizing and non-ionizing radiation.
• Select, calibrate and use survey equipment according to standards and requirements.
• Make recommendations on enforcement and licensing actions when needed.
• Perform complex area, effluent, and environment monitoring around regulated facilities.
