State of Nevada in Carson City is seeking a Radiation Control Specialist 2 to determine compliance with state and federal radiation regulations, inspect and investigate radiation sources, and license radioactive materials statewide. The role requires a degree in radiological science or closely related field and experience, with opportunities to develop inspection procedures and regulatory programs.

Competenze

• Bachelor's degree in radiological science, X-ray technology, health physics, nuclear medicine, chemistry, math, biology, or related field.
• Two years of professional radiological regulation or licensee radiological operations experience; or four years plus NRRT/ARRT certification; or two years as Radiation Control Specialist 1.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and travel up to 50% as required.

Mansioni

• Inspect machines, facilities, records, safety equipment and personnel for compliance with statutes and regulations.
• License radionuclide use; identify and investigate radiation sources to determine hazards.
• Draft violation letters, enforce corrective actions, and maintain inspection records.
• Respond to incidents involving ionizing radiation and provide radiological guidance to responders.
• Educate regulated community and public about radiological program requirements.
• Oversee mammography program inspections, budgets, and certificate documentation.
• Evaluate new radiological technologies for compliance with regulations.
