Job summary
HII’s Newport News Shipbuilding in Virginia is seeking a Radiation Safety Officer to join the K40 Radiographic Inspection team. The role evaluates, implements, and controls radioactive waste management programs to protect against radiation hazards, and develops policies for inspection standards, decontamination, emergency procedures, waste handling, and disposal services.
The position requires a Bachelor's Degree with 2 years of relevant exempt experience or a Master's Degree with 0 years of
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree plus 2 years of relevant exempt experience OR Master's Degree with no experience.
- Equivalent combinations listed in the ad may apply.
- IRRSP certification or ability to obtain RAD/DoD clearance may be required.
Responsibilities
- Evaluates, implements, and controls radioactive waste management programs.
- Develops policies for inspection standards, decontamination, and emergency procedures.
- Controls personnel radiation exposures and regulatory compliance.
- Stays current with NRC and Virginia regulations and training programs.
