Constellation is seeking a Radiation Protection Technician in Maryland to provide protection services for plant operations and maintenance in accordance with regulatory standards. The role emphasizes monitoring radiation, ALARA practices, and proper disposal of radioactive materials within a nuclear facility.

The position requires passing NRC-related requirements and operating in a demanding environment with rotating shifts, overtime, and outdoor exposure.

Qualifications

• Must meet ANSI requirements.
• High School Diploma or GED.
• Associate degree or equivalent in Radiation Protection/Health Physics or related field.
• 5+ years of experience in radiation control, radioactive waste management, or respiratory protection program.
• EEI Technicians test.
• Ability to wear a respirator and carry 20 lb weight on back.
• Meet unescorted access requirements for a commercial nuclear power plant.
• On-call availability; rotating shift work including holidays and weekends.
• Outdoor work in heat, dirt, noise, and radiation.

Responsibilities

• Conducts and evaluates radiation, airborne radioactivity and contamination surveys to determine required protection measures.
• Monitors and controls personnel exposure to maintain ALARA.
• Prescribes protective clothing and devices for entries into controlled areas.
• Reduces quantities of radioactive materials by physical and administrative methods.
• Operates, calibrates, repairs, and maintains radiological survey equipment.
• Prepares radioactive material for disposal.
• Performs duties of the Shift Radiation Protection Technician as required by the Emergency Response Plan.
• Ensures controlled area materials are surveyed before unrestricted release.
