Job summary

Carle Health seeks a full-time Radiation Oncology physicist to join our Peoria team. The role provides comprehensive medical physics support for external beam radiation therapy, brachytherapy, SRS, and SBRT, with a strong emphasis on collaboration with physicians, dosimetrists, and therapists to optimize treatment planning and delivery.

The successful candidate will lead radiation safety efforts, oversee QA and acceptance testing, and help develop departmental policies.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree or PhD in Physics or a related field.
• ABR certification (Certified Specialist in Therapeutic Radiologic Physics) required.
• IEMA license as Radiologic Technologist – Radiation Therapy required.

Responsibilities

• Provides medical physics support for EBRT, brachytherapy, SRS, and SBRT.
• Oversees equipment acceptance testing, commissioning, calibration, and QA.
• Develops and maintains departmental physics policies and QA programs.
• Serves as Department Radiation Safety Officer.
• Collaborates with radiation oncologists, dosimetrists, and therapists to optimize treatment planning.
• Participates in quality improvement initiatives and radiation safety meetings.
• Educates staff and students, providing orientation and instruction.

Education

Master’s degree or PhD in Physics or related field

Certified Specialist in Therapeutic Radiologic Physics (ABR)

Licensed Radiologic Technologist – Radiation Therapy (IEMA)
