Job summary

Carle Health in Peoria, IL, is seeking a full-time Radiation Oncology physicist to join our team. You will provide medical physics support for EBRT, brachytherapy, SRS, and SBRT, and act as the Department Radiation Safety Officer.

You will work in a highly collaborative environment, ensuring regulatory compliance, leading QA and safety programs, and contributing to education and program development. Partial remote work may be considered for candidates within driving distance of Peoria.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree or PhD in Physics or a related field.
• ABR certification is required.
• IEMA licensure as Radiologic Technologist – Radiation Therapy is required.
• Experience in medical physics or a related clinical setting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provides comprehensive medical physics support for radiation oncology services, including external beam radiation therapy, brachytherapy, SRS, and SBRT.
• Ensures compliance with local, state, and federal regulatory requirements including IEMA, NRC, ACR, and DNV.
• Oversees equipment acceptance testing, commissioning, calibration, and ongoing QA.
• Develops, implements, and maintains departmental physics policies, procedures, and QA programs.
• Serves as Department Radiation Safety Officer and leads radiation safety initiatives.
• Collaborates with radiation oncologists, dosimetrists, and therapists to ensure optimal treatment planning and delivery.
• Participates in departmental quality improvement initiatives and staff education.
• Support innovation, clinical projects, and program development within radiation oncology.

Master's degree in Physics or related field

PhD in Physics or related field

Certified Specialist in Therapeutic Radiologic Physics (ABR)

Licensed Radiologic Technologist – Radiation Therapy (IEMA)
