Job summary

Blue Origin in Seattle, WA is seeking a senior radiation effects engineer to lead TID, DDD, and SEE testing efforts for space missions. You will develop test plans, coordinate external facilities, and mentor team members while ensuring compliance with industry standards.

You will design automated data collection, evaluate test data to guide parts selection, and help maintain state-of-the-art radiation test capabilities across the enterprise.

Qualifications

  • B.S. in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Computer Science, Nuclear Science, or related field with 7+ years of proven direct experience in space radiation effects testing (TID, DDD, and SEE).
  • Hands-on experience developing component test and measurement hardware for radiation effects test.
  • Strong grasp of the effects of radiation on electronics.
  • Strong grasp of basic and complex digital and analog circuitry.
  • Extensive experience with laboratory test equipment (power supplies, signal generators, SMUs, oscilloscopes).
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to earn trust and contribute to an inclusive culture.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or eligible to work in the U.S.

Responsibilities

  • Develop radiation test plans and reports (TID, DDD, SEE) in line with industry standards.
  • Perform and lead radiation tests at external facilities (up to 25% travel).
  • Develop custom radiation test setups with emphasis on automated data collection and processing.
  • Evaluate radiation test data and advise parts selection based on mission radiation hardness requirements.
  • Lead program personnel through test procedures to meet cost and schedule constraints.
  • Serve as technical reference and mentor regarding industry test standards for parts of all technology types.
  • Maintain radiation team’s capabilities in line with state-of-the-industry standards.
