Job summary

Blue Origin's ACE team seeks a senior Radiation Effects Engineer to lead analysis, modeling and qualification of space electronics. You will mentor engineers, drive automation and data governance across the radiation workflow, and guide part qualification and risk mitigation with design and manufacturing partners.

You will collaborate across disciplines, shape testing roadmaps, and sustain a robust radiation-tolerant parts baseline while ensuring safety and regulatory adherence.

Qualifications

• MS or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Computer Science, Nuclear Science or related field with 15+ years in radiation effects design, analysis or testing on electronics
• Expert understanding of radiation effects on electronics across commercial and rad-hardened tech
• Experience with circuit analysis, risk assessment for transient radiation and environment/transport modeling tools
• Strong lab skills with radiation test equipment and data acquisition, testing and debugging
• Proven ability to lead technical projects and mentor multidisciplinary teams
• Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to present at design reviews
• Eligible to work in the U.S.; willingness to travel domestically and internationally

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership and mentorship on electronics performance in space radiation environments
• Drive automation and roadmaps for radiation testing, analysis, and research
• Architect radiation test data systems to enable usability and traceability
• Engage with industry and customers to stay current on radiation concerns
• Translate mission parameters into radiation environment definitions and requirements
• Model and validate digital, analog, and mixed-signal circuits under radiation, apply hardening techniques
• Guide component selection, sourcing and qualification across lifecycle with reliability and sourcing teams
• Author control plans, test reports, design reviews and system-level analyses
• Ensure compliance with radiation safety standards and export controls
