Astranis is seeking a Radiation Effects Engineer - Modeling to own the GEO radiation environment model, perform advanced transport simulations, and guide shielding and grounding decisions. You will work with CAD data and collaborate with hardware and systems teams to ensure mission-ready designs.

Ideal candidates have a strong theoretical background in space radiation, experience with transport tools, and Python automation skills.

Formación

• BS in Nuclear Engineering, Physics, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent.
• 2+ years of experience with radiation environment tools (OMERE, SPENVIS) and transport tools (FASTRAD, Geant4, MCNP).
• Proficiency in Python for mathematical post-processing, data scraping, and modeling automation.

Responsabilidades

• Own the analytical model of GEO radiation environment, including trapped particles, solar protons, and GCRs.
• Run high-fidelity 3D Monte Carlo radiation transport simulations against CAD assemblies to generate dose curves.
• Lead studies on spacecraft charging to prevent ESD risks and ensure safety of materials.
• Develop, scale, and maintain Python pipelines to process and visualize transport datasets.
• Translate simulation data into engineering guidance for shielding and grounding architectures.
