Astranis Space Technologies Corp. seeks a Radiation Effects Engineer to define and model the spacecraft radiation and charging environments for GEO missions.

You will guide shielding, material choices, and grounding architectures, collaborating with hardware, mechanical, and systems teams. The role requires modeling expertise with radiation transport tools, Python-based data pipelines, and a strong physics background.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Nuclear or related field.
• 2+ years using radiation environment tools (OMERE, SPENVIS).
• Strong theory of radiation interaction with matter.
• Experience modeling spacecraft charging physics.
• Proficiency in Python for data processing and automation.
• Ability to evaluate complex system trade-offs with sparse data.

Responsibilities

• Own GEO radiation environment modeling with trapped particles and solar/galactic spectra.
• Run high-fidelity Monte Carlo transport simulations against spacecraft CAD.
• Lead studies on spacecraft charging to mitigate ESD risks.
• Develop Python pipelines to process and visualize transport data.
• Provide engineering guidance on shielding, materials, and grounding.
