Job summary

BWX Technologies, Inc. is offering a Summer 2027 Radiation Analysis Intern position in Lynchburg, VA. You will collaborate with engineers to develop analytical models for radiation shielding, criticality analysis, and dose assessment using state-of-the-art software.

The role involves hands-on work on shielding design tradeoffs, dose mapping, and tool development within BWXT's Advanced Technologies Office. Eligible students gain practical experience in nuclear engineering and radiation health

Qualifications

• Must be a currently enrolled student pursuing an engineering degree.
• Strong interest in nuclear engineering and/or radiation health physics.
• Must have taken mid-level nuclear engineering courses, including neutronics and radiation physics.
• Must be a U.S. Citizen.

Responsibilities

• Work within a multi-disciplinary team to make design tradeoffs and decisions relating to shielding of a terrestrial or marine-based nuclear reactor system.
• Produce radiation dose maps for assessment of shielding solutions.
• Develop calculational tools for more efficient analyses.
