BWX Technologies, Inc. invites applications for a Nuclear Criticality Safety Engineering Intern position in Lynchburg, VA, for Summer 2027. This on-site internship includes a 10–12 week program with mentorship and a housing stipend for qualifying interns.

Qualifications

Enrolled in a B.S. or M.S. in Engineering (Nuclear preferred).
NCS related experience is a plus.
Must be able to obtain and maintain DOE Q Clearance.

Responsibilities

Mentored intern to perform NCS analyses and safety basis definitions.
Advise production on process changes and facility modifications.
Execute computer models to evaluate normal operations and upsets.
Determine limits and controls to keep operations safely within NRC requirements.
Evaluate accident sequences and items relied on for safety.
Approve operating and maintenance procedures important to safety.
Participate in audits, inspections and investigations of incidents.
Perform other duties as assigned.
