BWX Technologies, Inc. (BWXT) invites applications for a Nuclear Criticality Safety Engineering Intern position, on-site in Lynchburg, VA. The role provides mentorship to perform safety analyses and support NRC compliance within a dynamic nuclear engineering environment.

Internship lasts 10–12 weeks with a housing stipend for eligible candidates. Starting pay is $29.50 per hour, with potential for benefits and a career path in a mission-driven organization. U.S.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in B.S. or MS in Engineering (Nuclear Engineering degree preferred).
• NCS related experience a plus.
• Must be US Citizen and able to obtain DOE Q Clearance.

Responsibilities

• Perform NCS analyses to define the safety basis for process operation.
• Advise production personnel on the impact of process changes and facility modifications.
• Execute computer models to evaluate normal operations and upsets relative to NRC requirements.
• Determine limits and controls to maintain operations critically safe.
• Evaluate accident sequences and identify safety-related items to prevent accidents.
• Assist in approving procedures important to safety and participate in audits/ investigations.
