Job summary

RTX is seeking a Radar Systems Engineer in El Segundo, CA, to join the Advanced Products & Solutions Mission Area within the Systems Engineering Center. You will contribute to radar and early‑warning sensor programs, applying MBSE and system-level analyses in a secure, fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities include lifecycle trades, requirements development, DOORS usage, and MATLAB/Python/C++ based analysis. U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain DoD Secret clearance are required.

Qualifications

  • Degree in STEM required with strong background in radar/defense systems.
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant Systems Engineering experience with radar algorithms and requirements development.
  • Experience with software/hardware integration and data analysis.
  • Security clearance: ability to obtain DoD Secret clearance; U.S. citizenship required.

  • Support development and verification of system requirements using DOORS and modeling tools.

Join the Advanced Products & Solutions (APS) Mission Area within the Systems Engineering Center, where we design and develop advanced radar and early‑warning sensor systems that support the military around the world. We are seeking Radar Systems Engineers who thrive in a fast‑paced environment, enjoy solving complex technical problems, and are eager to support innovative sensor and radar programs.

What You Will Do
  • Contribute to all phases of the systems engineering lifecycle, including trade studies, development of CONOPS, system architecture, requirements definition and allocation, traceability, integration, verification, and qualification
  • Support development, analysis, documentation, and verification of system requirements using DOORS
  • Radar mode algorithm development and system performance assessments.
  • Conduct modeling, simulation, and data analysis using MATLAB, Python, and C++
  • Perform daily tasks in a classified and controlled lab environment
  • Participate in hardware/software integration, troubleshooting, and hands‑on laboratory testing
  • Support verification, validation, flight test, production, and post‑deployment activities
  • Perform trade studies, functional/physical analyses, and MBSE‑based system design
  • Prepare and present technical reports, findings, and briefings to internal and external stakeholders
  • Travel up to 10%
Qualifications You Must Have
  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline (preferably Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Physics) and a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience in Systems Engineering with radar algorithm design, requirements development, software/hardware integration, data analysis using Matlab, and configuration management
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance
Qualifications We Prefer
  • Active DoD Secret clearance
  • Advanced degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline (preferably Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Physics)
  • Knowledge of radar fundamentals.
  • Programming experience in Python and MATLAB
  • Experience troubleshooting electronic or system‑level issues, signal processing, control theory, statistics, information theory, and detection methods, Imaging/pattern recognition, Data filtering (Kalman, batch, optimal estimation)

The salary range for this role is 95,500 USD - 181,700 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factor
