Job summary

RTX is seeking a Systems Engineer for the Advanced Products & Solutions Mission Area to design and develop radar and early‑warning sensor systems for U.S. military forces worldwide, based in El Segundo, California.

You will contribute across the systems engineering lifecycle, perform modeling and analysis in MATLAB and Python, work with DOORS for requirements, and travel up to 10% as needed. This onsite role offers relocation assistance and a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in STEM – preferably Electrical, Aerospace, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Mechanical, Applied Mathematics, or Physics.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of Systems Engineering experience with radar algorithm design and requirements development.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government-issued security clearance; U.S. citizenship is required.

Position Summary

Systems Engineer within the Advanced Products & Solutions (APS) Mission Area, designing and developing advanced radar and early‑warning sensor systems that support U.S. military forces worldwide.


Responsibilities


  • Contribute to all phases of the systems engineering lifecycle, including trade studies, development of CONOPS, system architecture, requirements definition and allocation, traceability, integration, verification, and qualification.

  • Support development, analysis, documentation, and verification of system requirements using DOORS.

  • Develop radar mode algorithms and perform system performance assessments.

  • Conduct modeling, simulation, and data analysis using MATLAB, Python, and C++.

  • Perform daily tasks in a classified and controlled laboratory environment.

  • Participate in hardware/software integration, troubleshooting, and hands‑on laboratory testing.

  • Support verification, validation, flight test, production, and post‑deployment activities.

  • Perform trade studies, functional/physical analyses, and MBSE‑based system design.

  • Prepare and present technical reports, findings, and briefings to internal and external stakeholders.

  • Travel up to 10% of the time.


Qualifications


  • Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) – preferably Electrical, Aerospace, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Mechanical, Applied Mathematics, or Physics.

  • Minimum of two (2) years of relevant experience in Systems Engineering with radar algorithm design, requirements development, software/hardware integration, data analysis using MATLAB, and configuration management.

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government‑issued security clearance; U.S. citizenship is required for eligibility.

  • Experience with DOORS (or similar requirements management tools).


Preferred Qualifications


  • Active DoD Secret clearance.

  • Advanced (master’s or higher) degree in a STEM discipline.

  • Strong fundamentals in radar systems.

  • Proficient programming skills in Python and MATLAB.

  • Experience troubleshooting electronic and/or system‑level issues, including signal processing, control theory, statistics, information theory, detection methods, imaging/pattern recognition, and data filtering (Kalman, batch, optimal estimation).


Benefits and Compensation

Salary range: $75,800 – $144,200 annually. Eligible for relocation assistance.
