Job summary

Chaos Industries in Los Angeles is seeking a Modeling & Simulation Engineer for Radars to develop, integrate, and validate models of radar and RF sensing systems. You will work across analytical, behavioral, measurement-level, and IQ-level models, selecting fidelity as needed and collaborating with cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

• Experience with radar modeling domains and simulation
• Knowledge of radar detection, measurement generation, discrimination and signal processing
• Experience with radar tracking, estimation, data association, or sensor fusion
• Familiarity with radar modes, resource management, or system-performance analysis
• Experience in RF propagation, clutter, interference, or electronic warfare (EW)
• Strong programming ability in MATLAB, Python, or C++
• Experience with Monte Carlo, sensitivity analysis, uncertainty modeling, or DOE
• Experience validating models against analytical results or field data
• Experience with large engineering data sets and reproducible workflows

Responsibilities

• Develop, integrate, and maintain physics-based and performance-based models of radar and RF sensing systems.
• Build models with appropriate fidelity: analytical radar-performance, behavioral sensor, measurement-generation, and signal/IQ models.
• Model radar effects: antennas, beam patterns, waveforms, RF chain, noise, propagation, atmospheric effects, clutter, interference, jamming, calibration errors, and uncertainty.
• Develop detection, thresholding, discrimination, measurement extraction, data association, tracking, estimation, classification, sensor fusion, radar modes, and resource management functions.
• Create target, scene, geometry, trajectory, environmental, and threat models for operational radar scenarios.
• Conduct design trades, sensitivity studies, Monte Carlo analyses, and DOE to validate designs.
• Quantify performance using metrics like SNR, P(d), false alarms, detection range, track accuracy, latency, and robustness.
• Integrate radar algorithms and software into SIL, SITL, HITL/HWIL, or real-time simulations; support verification.
