Job summary

Chaos Industries is seeking a radar systems engineer to design and optimize advanced signal processing algorithms for target detection, tracking, and classification. You will implement methods in C++, Python, and MATLAB, and may work with FPGAs and DSPs to meet real-time constraints.

The role requires deep radar knowledge, strong algorithm development and data analysis skills, and the ability to mentor junior engineers while collaborating with a multidisciplinary team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in STEM or equivalent work experience.
• Deep understanding of radar systems and modes.
• Strong understanding of radar principles, signal processing techniques, and algorithms.
• Familiarity with Python or MATLAB.
• Experience with RF systems.
• Expertise in digital signal processing including modulation, filtering, and detection.
• Expertise in algorithm development and data analysis.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Ability to work independently and in a multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop radar signal processing algorithms for target detection, tracking and classification.
• Lead development of new radar capabilities with minimal guidance.
• Optimize algorithms for real-time performance and resource constraints.
• Implement algorithms in software (C++, Python, MATLAB) and/or hardware (FPGAs, DSPs).
• Analyze radar data to evaluate system performance and identify improvements.
• Develop and maintain system simulations and models for algorithm development.
• Design and develop radar modes and contribute to system requirements/specifications.
• Model radar systems and subsystems and the signal processing chain.
• Plan and lead field tests and data collection activities.
• Document and present technical findings to leadership.
• Mentor and guide junior engineers.
• Work full-time onsite at our office in El Segundo, CA.
