Job summary

AMD in Austin, TX is seeking a Rack and Chassis Design Mechanical Engineer to shape the physical backbone powering next-generation AI servers and data centers. You will drive mechanical development from concept through product commercialization, spanning pre- and post-silicon activities, and work with cross-functional teams.

You will apply Creo-based modeling, manage thermal solutions, mentor engineers, and influence product direction in a fast-paced, high-performance computing environment.

Qualifications

• BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• Experience in server and data center environments.
• Strong collaboration and communication skills.
• Ability to lead cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with a global team to define, design, and integrate mechanical systems for server products.
• Lead mechanical development across server design, architecture, rack-level integration, and cooling solutions.
• Perform mechanical modeling in Creo and tolerance analysis.
• Support post-silicon development with testing, characterization, data analysis, and customer/reference system support.
• Provide technical direction and mentorship to junior engineers; participate in design reviews and cross-functional discussions.
• Drive continuous improvement of mechanical design processes and workflows.
