Penske Entertainment’s INDYCAR Engineering Internship in Indianapolis, IN offers hands-on exposure to aerodynamics, engine management, data analysis and electronics. You’ll be guided by leaders across key technical areas and participate in multiple projects driven by organizational priorities and your interests.

You’ll contribute to top-tier experiences for fans and teams, taking ownership of responsibilities while collaborating across departments in a fast-paced motorsports environment.

Qualifications

  • Formula SAE or similar experience is preferred.
  • Knowledge of engine operations and vehicle electronics is preferred.
  • Strong critical thinking and analytical skills, especially the ability to synthesize large amounts of data into insights.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously, managing timelines and goals.
  • Evidence of strong character with integrity, honesty, accountability, and trust.
  • Deliver new and creative solutions to sophisticated problems.

Responsibilities

  • Support INDYCAR engineering projects with direction from engineering leadership.
  • Assist engine technicians with collecting engine control unit (ECU) data at race events.
  • Write programs to help increase efficiency of reviewing data.
  • Support the engineering safety group by downloading crash data and taking accident photos during events.
  • Cross department involvement with the INDYCAR Timing and Innovation group as it pertains to key data.
  • Short-term projects may be identified which will help further the individual’s exposure to the motorsports industry and accomplish key duties for the engineering department.
