Job summary

Commonwealth Fusion Systems is seeking a Materials Test Operator to join the Devens, MA laboratory. You will prepare specimens, run mechanical tests, and report data to support fusion-system components and HTS magnets.

Responsibilities include instrument operation, metrology, and ongoing process improvements. The role emphasizes rigorous data integrity, collaboration with engineers, and adherence to lab SOPs.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent; technical training accepted.
Minimum 2 years in materials prep and testing tools.
Experience with mechanical and electrical assembly, vacuum/cryogenic systems.
Willingness to travel and to work nights/weekends/on-call.

Responsibilities

Prepare test specimens and perform laboratory experiments.
Support continuous improvement in the materials lab.
Assist with inventory management and reporting.
Execute materials tests and manage data per SOPs.
Operate testing equipment and characterize materials.
Maintain lab equipment and assist with calibration.
