Title: Hardware R&D Technician

Job Summary:
The Hardware R&D Technician supports the development and testing of hardware prototypes and systems within the R&D organization. This role involves hands-on prototyping, testing, fixture development, and data analysis, with increasing levels of independence and technical leadership. The technician will also contribute to documentation, change management, and lab operations.Supports engineering related functions including production, design, research & development, testing, and budgeting
Job Responsibilities:
- Prototyping
- PCA level rework - proficient down to 0402 size components.
- Cable build and rework of moderate level density connectors.
- Takes on more complex prototyping but with higher level of self-direction.
- Prototyping SME who is able to train /direct the work of others and work with minimal oversight.
- Troubleshoots issues.
- Testing
- Conducts high complexity testing and helps coordinate activities of others and troubleshoot issues on moderate to high complexity methods.
- Proactive and self-directed.
- Conducts high complexity testing and coordinate activities of others and troubleshoot issues on higher complexity methods, SME for 1 or more methods.
- Supports setup and execution of 60601-1 Safety and 60601-1-2 EMC compliance testing.
- Test Method and Fixture Development
- TM execution, TM characterization, fixture development/fabrication, conduct fixture qualification input prior to TMV (write IQP/IQR or FAI).
- Works with expanded scope and more independently, create ES/TMs/IQ protocols/reports, TMV assessments.
- Test Method Validation
- TM Execution to support validation (self-directed and able to guide others).
- Expected to provide critical feedback on TMV.
- Change Orders
- Windchill training complete, create documents (methods, equipment specs), create CO's for part releases.
- Proficient in Windchill, create documents.
- Design
- Able to read engineering drawings and understand tolerance.
- PCB layout, component design, and component review. Altium preferred.
- Data Analysis
- Follows Good Documentation Practices - Executes data entry into Excel /Minitab + executes some basic statistical analysis.
- Lead role in maintaining equipment (coordinate calibration, proactively identify issues, etc.).
- Able to identify future lab needs and execute on expanding lab capabilities.
- Commercial product Hypercare on investigating field complaints and issues reported by customers.
- Independently conducts work efficiently and effectively and contributes ideas for how to improve.
- Leads execution for improvements.
- HW Logistics and Configuration management of development prototypes to ensure and document revisions of HW and SW versions of each device.
- Must have the ability to regularly lift 25 lbs. and occasionally lift 50 lbs.
- Occasional or Regularly scheduled overtime is a requirement of this position.
