Job summary

imec USA in Cambridge, MA, is seeking a System Integration Engineer R&D to join the ISSA center. You will lead cross-disciplinary integration of mechanics, hardware, software, electronics, optics, and sensors into advanced lab instrumentation and prototype systems.

You will translate stakeholder needs into system requirements, refine architectures, coordinate with vendors, and drive verification through testing with application scientists.

Qualifications

  • Experience in instrumentation development and systems engineering.
  • 5-10 years of relevant experience in instrumentation or system integration.
  • Experience integrating complex multidisciplinary systems.
  • Experience with electronics, automation, embedded systems, and hardware control.
  • Familiarity with standards such as ISO 13485, UL, EMC, or CE is advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Build and integrate laboratory instrumentation prototypes across mechanics, hardware, software, electronics, optics, and sensors.
  • Interface with external vendors for component selection and procurement.
  • Analyze technical problems to define prototype development scope.
  • Translate stakeholder needs into system requirements and architectures.
  • Plan and execute test and verification with application scientists.
  • Maintain clear technical documentation to support development and knowledge transfer.
