Job summary

The University of Texas at Austin's Environmental Sciences Laboratory seeks an R&D Software Developer (Engineering Scientist) to support applied research in signal processing, beamforming, and spectral analysis for defense-related applications. You will lead full software life cycles from design to deployment on the Pickle Research Campus.

Required are strong Python/MATLAB skills, a solid academic background in science or engineering, and ability to work both independently and within a team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in the natural or engineering sciences including computer science, electrical engineering, or related discipline.
• Three+ years of experience developing applications in Python, MATLAB, or other similar programming languages.
• Experience leading technical software development efforts.

Responsibilities

• Design software according to project specific requirements.
• Write flexible and maintainable software according to software design.
• Test software to ensure that it meets design and project requirements.
• Prepare technical documentation and presentations; present analysis results at meetings.
• Review peer developed software to improve other designs and implementations.
