Job summary

The University of Texas at Austin's Environmental Sciences Laboratory seeks a skilled R&D Software Developer to join a team delivering defense-related signal processing software. You will design, implement, test, and sustain applications across Windows and UNIX/Linux, contributing to real-time and offline analysis on challenging projects.

The role requires a strong background in Python and MATLAB, plus a proven ability to work both independently and with colleagues, ensuring high standards

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in the natural or engineering sciences including computer science, electrical engineering, or related discipline.
• Experience developing applications in Python, MATLAB, or other similar programming languages in both Windows and a UNIX/Linux environment.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively, both independently and collaboratively, with a strong commitment to contribution and enabling the entire team.
• Ability to debug software at all stages of development life cycle.

Responsibilities

• Designing software according to project specific requirements.
• Writing flexible and maintainable software according to software design.
• Testing software to ensure that it meets design and project requirements.
• Writing documentation for newly developed and legacy software as well as development practices.
• Review peer developed software to improve other developer's designs and implementations.
• Deploy and support software outside of ARL.
• Other related functions as assigned.
