Job summary

The University of Texas at Austin, Applied Research Laboratories, is seeking a motivated R&D Software Developer to join the Engineering Scientist Associate role at the Pickle Research Campus. You will contribute to government-facing signal processing and algorithm development, covering design, implementation, testing, deployment, and sustainment of software.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in natural or engineering sciences including computer science, electrical engineering, or related discipline.
• Experience developing applications in Python, MATLAB, or other similar programming languages in Windows and UNIX/Linux environments.
• Ability to work independently and with a team with strong commitment to contributing to the whole team.
• Ability to debug software at all stages of development life cycle.

Responsibilities

• Design software according to project specific requirements.
• Write flexible and maintainable software according to design.
• Test software to ensure it meets design and project requirements.
• Write documentation for newly developed and legacy software as well as development practices.
• Review peer developed software to improve other developers’ designs and implementations.
• Deploy and support software outside of ARL.
