Job summary

Applied Research Laboratories at UT Austin seeks an R&D Software Developer (Engineering Scientist) to develop and deploy signal processing and beamforming software for defense-related applications. You will design, implement, test, document, and sustain software across the full lifecycle as part of a collaborative engineering team.

Required: a STEM degree and 3+ years in Python/MATLAB with cross-platform experience; strong problem solving and communication skills; ability to mentor staff.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in natural or engineering sciences incl. CS/EE.
3+ years in Python, MATLAB or similar languages.
1+ year Python+MATLAB in Windows and UNIX/Linux.
Ability to work independently and with teams.
Debug software through all life-cycle stages.
Experience leading technical software development efforts.

Responsibilities

Design software per project requirements.
Write flexible, maintainable software.
Test software to meet design and project specs.
Prepare technical docs and presentations.
Review peers’ code to improve quality.
Deploy and support software outside ARL.
Perform related duties as assigned.
