Job summary

Universal Diagnostics in Dallas Fort Worth is seeking an R&D Research Associate to support the development of Signal-C, our colorectal cancer screening NGS assay. You will execute study protocols, document variables, and assist with assay improvements.

This onsite role requires a foundation in molecular biology and the ability to learn new methods across cfDNA extraction, library preparation, target capture, and sequencing.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in molecular biology or related field with hands-on wet-lab experience.
• Experience in DNA extraction, quantification and purification, and PCR.
• Familiarity with automated liquid handling and basic troubleshooting.
• Ability to follow multistep protocols and learn study variations.

Responsibilities

• Assist in bench protocol preparation and execution of bespoke studies under guidance.
• Process plasma cfDNA, perform library preparation, methylation conversion, and sequencing.
• Set up Hamilton or similar automation, verify layouts and parameters.
• Prepare reagents, plate maps, and sequencing sample sheets with accuracy.
• Assess DNA/library QC metrics and flag issues for scientists.
• Support optimization studies on extraction conditions and library chemistry.
• Document observations, deviations, and corrective actions in LIMS and reports.
