Job description

We are seeking a motivated R&D Technologist to support the development and optimization of molecular diagnostic assays in a laboratory research environment. This role is ideal for an early‑career scientist with a strong foundation in molecular biology who enjoys hands‑on laboratory work and contributing to assay development projects.

The R&D Technologist will perform routine and semi‑routine laboratory experiments, support assay development and validation activities, and work closely with scientists and cross‑functional teams. This position operates under direct to general supervision and provides opportunities to build technical expertise in sequencing‑based diagnostic workflows.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Perform routine laboratory experiments in support of molecular assay development projects.
  • Execute established protocols for nucleic acid extraction, PCR/qPCR, and NGS library preparation.
  • Prepare reagents, buffers, and samples according to standard operating procedures.
  • Collect, organize, and summarize experimental data for review by scientists.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed laboratory records in accordance with quality and regulatory standards.
  • Support assay verification and validation studies by executing assigned experiments.
  • Assist with troubleshooting experiments and equipment issues, escalating complex problems as needed.
  • Collaborate with team members across R&D, validation, automation, and bioinformatics as required.
  • Maintain laboratory organization, inventory, and equipment readiness.
  • Follow safety guidelines, quality systems, and company policies at all times.
  • Perform other job‑related duties as assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor or Master degree in molecular biology, biochemistry, genetics, or a related scientific discipline.
  • 1–2 years of hands‑on laboratory experience (industry, academic, or internship experience acceptable).
  • Basic understanding of molecular biology techniques such as PCR, qPCR, and DNA/RNA extraction.
  • Familiarity with NGS concepts and workflows is a plus.
  • Ability to follow detailed protocols and standard operating procedures.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Willingness to learn new techniques and adapt to changing project needs.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a fast‑paced laboratory environment.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Prior experience in a research, clinical, or diagnostic laboratory.
  • Experience with NGS library prep and sequencing workflows.
  • Experience working in a regulated or quality‑controlled environment.
  • Experience supporting assay development or validation studies.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
  • Frequently required to sit or stand for extended periods.
  • Frequently required to use hand and finger dexterity to operate laboratory equipment.
  • Frequently required to read technical documentation and visually interpret data.
  • Occasionally exposed to bloodborne or airborne pathogens or infectious materials.
  • Work is primarily performed in a laboratory environment.
