Job summary

II-VI UK, Ltd. is seeking an R&D Engineering Technician focused on prototype fabrication to support new product and customer development. You will handle materials processing, machining, lapping, equipment operation, planning and data reporting, inspection, and assembly.

The role requires on-site work, with a 5-day, 40-hour week and first shift. Relevant certifications such as CAM, CAD, ISO, Lean or CMM are a strong plus.

Qualifications

5+ years related experience or relevant combination of education and/or experience.
Certifications such as CAM, CAD, ISO, Lean, CMM are a strong plus.
Familiarity with manufacturing and/or lab environment.
Experience with advanced equipment (materials processing, furnaces, CNC machining centers, CMMs).
Knowledge of assembly operations.

Responsibilities

Project planning, execution, tracking and reporting.
Develop processing methods for inorganic composites (preform fabrication, mold production, furnace operation, CNC machining, lapping).
Characterization of materials properties.
Detailed process and product tracking.
Measurement of dimensions manually and with CMMs.
Interface with suppliers, vendors, toll manufacturers and test labs.
Operate thermal processing equipment and controls.
Transfer products to manufacturing with documentation and training.
