Job summary

E Ink Corporation in Billerica, MA is seeking a Process Engineer to join our Research Division. This role supports coatings, lamination, device fabrication, testing, and characterization of novel electrophoretic display systems, developing and optimizing lab- and pilot-scale processes in research and cleanroom environments.

Qualifications

• Ability to plan and execute experiments, accurately collect data, analyze results, and recommend next steps.
• Experience developing, executing, or optimizing experimental procedures, fabrication processes, or manufacturing methods.
• Identify sources of process variation and troubleshoot equipment, materials, and process issues.
• Work independently while collaborating with scientists, engineers, technicians, and cross-functional teams.
• Strong written and verbal communication; ability to summarize observations and recommendations.
• Commitment to laboratory safety and handling chemical materials per EH&S requirements.
• Proficiency with Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

Responsibilities

• Develop, execute, and optimize laboratory- and pilot-scale coating, lamination, and device-fabrication processes.
• Plan and conduct experiments to evaluate process parameters, materials, equipment settings, and device-build conditions.
• Analyze and interpret data to identify trends and improvements.
• Investigate process variability and equipment issues using structured troubleshooting and root-cause analysis.
• Develop robust procedures for multilayer coating, lamination, cutting, assembly, and testing.
• Own and maintain laboratory and pilot equipment, including operation and documentation.
• Evaluate process capability, repeatability, yield, and quality during experimental builds.
• Interface with electronic, coating, lamination, mechanical, and process equipment for research and fabrication.
• Perform mechanical testing of parts, films, and materials as needed.
• Organize and maintain inventory of parts, materials, tools, and consumables.
• Prepare work instructions, SOPs, technical reports, and presentations.
• Collaborate with scientists, engineers, and manufacturing teams to define experimental plans and resolve issues.
• Ensure compliance with environmental, health, safety, and quality requirements.
