Qualifications

• BS or MS in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent work experience.
• 7+ years of industrial process systems engineering experience.
• Ability to read P&IDs, process flow diagrams, and fabrication drawings.
• Experience sizing and selecting chemical fluid lines, pumps, valves, and instrumentation.
• Basic electrical knowledge to read wiring diagrams and troubleshoot low voltage circuitry.
• Working knowledge of process automation (P&ID controllers, instrumentation, transmitters, VFDs, PLCs).
• Clear and effective communication skills.
• Ability to function effectively as a member of cross-functional, cross-disciplinary, and inter-corporate teams.
• Familiarity with Six Sigma / statistical analysis methods.

Responsibilities

• Design new process systems and generate PFDs, evaluate alternative technologies, and draft P&IDs.
• Lead the installation of new process systems in collaboration with internal and external teams.
• Act as a company-wide technical resource on process equipment such as reactor vessels, pumps, mixers, etc.
• Evaluate third-party vendors for design and installation of new process equipment.
• Perform hands-on assembly, modification, commissioning, and troubleshooting of pilot-scale systems.
• Coordinate capabilities across Development and Research, and support EH&S requirements.
• Design and optimize chemical processes for commercial production of surface treated pigments and dispersions.
• Plan and execute experiments to identify and control material properties critical to final product performance.
