Job summary

COMPANY in San Jose, CA is seeking a Power Electronics Engineer specializing in high-power conversion (kW→MW) for a new R&D platform. You will design and prototype AC/DC, DC/DC, and HVDC/DC converters for data center and infrastructure applications, with hands-on lab bring-up and rigorous validation.

You will collaborate with global teams, perform topology studies, and translate customer requirements into engineering direction, using MATLAB/Simulink, PSpice, and Cadence tools. A Ph.D.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering (Power Electronics / Power Conversion preferred).
• Hands-on experience with AC/DC, DC/DC, or inverter-based power systems.
• Strong foundation in lab validation, testing, debugging, and system-level optimization.

Responsibilities

• Design and evaluate high-power conversion systems (kW → MW).
• Execute topology trade-offs, efficiency optimization, and thermal/EMI analysis.
• Perform hands-on lab bring-up, testing, and debugging.
• Develop prototype and reference designs (no production ownership).
• Engage with U.S.-based customers; translate requirements into engineering direction.
