Job summary

PepsiCo is seeking an R&D Microbiology Assistant Scientist to provide technical and operational support across the Global R&D Microbiology team. You will handle routine microbiology testing, challenge studies, and governance programs while managing culture collections and equipment maintenance.

Your role includes safety leadership, inventory control, vendor coordination, and budget tracking to ensure compliant, efficient lab operations in a beverage-focused setting.

Qualifications

• BS degree in Microbiology, Biology, Food Science, or related discipline.
• 3–5 years of microbiology laboratory experience.
• Experience with microbiological techniques including aseptic technique, serial dilutions, plating, colony enumeration, culture transfer.
• Knowledge of GLP.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Microbiology Laboratory Support: Conduct routine analyses of beverages, ingredients, and related materials; prepare media and reagents; support studies; ensure accurate logging and records; maintain GLP compliance.
• Laboratory Operations: Manage inventory and procurement; coordinate vendors; process invoices; monitor expenditures; support efficiency initiatives.
• Safety & Compliance: Serve as Area Safety Representative; conduct monthly inspections; maintain safety docs; coordinate corrective actions.
• Equipment & Asset Management: Coordinate preventive maintenance; manage calibrations; coordinate vendors; maintain equipment records.
• Culture Collection Management: Maintain culture collection; coordinate storage and documentation; ensure culture management procedures.
