Job summary

Radiance Technologies is seeking an R&D Mechanical Engineer to support programs within the Scientific and Technical Intelligence Group. You will design, develop, and test mechanical and thermal systems for circuit card assemblies, working closely with electrical and computer engineers in a lab setting.

Responsibilities include first-principles analyses, multidisciplinary collaboration, and producing detailed technical documentation.

Qualifications

• US Citizenship with the ability to obtain a security clearance.
• Minimum 3.2 GPA (out of 4.0) and GPA listed on resume.
• 2+ years of mechanical engineering in lab/R&D/test/prototyping environments (Master's can substitute).
• Self-motivated and able to work within a research and development team.
• Hands-on prototyping experience via design/build/fly, Formula SAE, CubeSat or similar.

Radiance Technologies, a rapidly growing employee-owned company , is seeking an R&D Mechanical Engineer to support various ongoing programs within the Scientific and Technical Intelligence Group. The engineer will:

Responsibilities

• Design, development, and integrate mechanical and thermal systems for circuit card mechanical assemblies and supporting technologies
• Conduct analyses of complex problems using first principles
• Contribute to complex engineering projects, working within a multidisciplinary team
• Produce technical documentation of assigned projects

This position involves hands-on work in a laboratory setting with a highly multidisciplinary team. You will work closely with electrical engineers, computer engineers, and technicians to design, build, and test microelectronics solutions and their physical support systems.

Required Qualifications

• US Citizenship with the ability to obtain a security clearance
• Minimum of 3.2 GPA (out of 4.0) and must have GPA listed on resume to be considered
• 2+ years of mechanical engineering experience in a laboratory, R&D, test, prototyping, or experimental environment (A Master's in Mechanical or Aerospace engineering can substitute for the years of experience)
• Self-motivated and able to work well within research and development team
• Demonstrated hands-on experience in prototyping through events/organizations such as design/build/fly, Formula SAE, CubeSat, or other similar
• Experience with CAD software such as SolidWorks, Fusion 360, CATIA NX, or similar software packages
• Demonstrated proficiency in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T), tolerance stack-ups, and design for manufacturing
• Demonstrated experience in heat transfer mechanics and thermal systems, preferably in electrical systems
• Experience with standard electrical laboratory equipment such as oscilloscopes, function generators, multimeters, and power supplies
• Experience creating engineering drawings, CAD models, BOMs, and fabrication documentation

Desired Qualifications

• Masters Degree in Mechanical Engineering or closely related discipline
• Machine shop or hands-on fabrication experience (lathes, mills, 3D printers, etc.)
• Experience with Multiphysics analysis tools, such as COMSOL or PLECS
• Experience with high voltage engineering, circuit card mechanical assemblies, pulsed power, prime power, power electronics, RF, and/or antenna development
• Experience integrating PCBs, connectors, cabling, thermal components, and mechanical structures
• Experience with VPX, chassis, card guides, cold plates, heat spreaders, or conduction-cooled electronics
