Job summary

Sandia National Laboratories is seeking an R&D Manager to lead the Advanced Fuzing Technology Department. You will guide a diverse team, drive strategy, and manage multi-program efforts supporting national security missions.

The role requires DOE Q clearance eligibility, strong leadership, and exceptional communication. Onsite work and travel are expected, with opportunities to shape high‑impact fuzing technology programs.

Qualifications

• BS in a relevant discipline and 8+ years of related experience or equivalent.
• MS or PhD in science or engineering preferred.
• Ability to obtain and maintain DOE Q clearance and SCI access.

Responsibilities

• Lead a ~20-person staff and technologists, set priorities, mentor, and develop staff.
• Provide program leadership for multiple Strategic Partnership Programs.
• Build trust-based relationships with sponsors and internal customers.
• Oversee hazardous electrical and mechanical work in labs to test concepts.
• Collaborate to align plans with ND and ND/NNSA missions.
