Job summary

Sandia National Laboratories in New Mexico seeks a Manager, R&D Science and Engineering for the Controllers department (05350) to lead the design, development and support of arming and fuzing subsystem controllers. You will build strategic roadmaps, guide staff through hiring and development, and partner with customers to ensure successful project execution across MICM programs.

This is an onsite role with some travel, requiring a DOE Q clearance and the ability to operate in a dynamic,

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline with eight years of directly relevant experience, or an equivalent combination.
• Active DOE Q security clearance or equivalent and the ability to obtain SCI clearance (may require polygraph).
• Two or more years of demonstrated leadership experience.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are desired for stakeholder engagement.

• Guide the work of the department and staff
• Build and strengthen the team to include hiring, professional development, and performance management
• Lead department-level planning and communication to customers and partners
• Understand the work of the organization and connect the work and expertise of staff with potential beneficiaries, collaborators, and customers
• Build trust-based relationships to ensure that customer needs are satisfied
• Apply organization knowledge and experience to independently judge work quality, performance, and alignment of results with customer expectations
• Provide oversight and guidance on the security for work within the department
• Ensure safe operations of department staff
• Engage technically across the department to understand and represent the work
