Job summary

CREW Carbon seeks a Head of R&D and Lab Ops to serve as the technical authority on CREW’s wastewater process optimization and decarbonization solutions. You will translate lab data into defensible insights and drive process intensification across treatment facilities.

The role requires leadership of a high-caliber team, collaboration with Advisory, Commercial, and Technical Solutions, and a commitment to rigorous analysis.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Environmental, Chemical, Civil Engineering or related field
• 10+ years of hands-on experience in biological wastewater treatment process engineering
• Strong understanding of nutrient removal, solids handling, pH and alkalinity control
• Comfortable leading and growing a technical team
• Exceptional technical writing skills for clear, defensible documents
• Experience with process modeling tools (BioWin, SUMO, GPS-X, ASM libraries, or equivalent)
• Familiarity with analytical methods in wastewater and aqueous chemistry (IC, TIC, ICP)
• Able to synthesize new information and adapt quickly
• PE license is a plus
• Demonstrates extreme ownership and teamwork mindset

Responsibilities

• Serve as CREW's senior technical authority on BNR, aqueous chemistry, and process performance
• Analyze data and drive decisions using mass/energy balances and modeling
• Lead and mentor lab/R&D team with robust protocols and data standards
• Translate lab findings into scalable improvements for deployment
• Collaborate with Platform and Technical Solutions to turn data into product decisions
• Support MRV through carbon removal quantification methodologies
• Provide root-cause analysis for field issues and feed fixes back to R&D
• Author technical reports and internal R&D documentation
