Job summary

The Kraft Heinz Company is seeking an R&D Lab Assistant for the Global Sweetener & Salt Science & Technology team at the Glenview Innovation Center. You will perform hands‑on lab prep, sample handling, testing, and documentation to support product development.

You will work with food scientists to ensure accurate execution of formulas, data collection, and maintenance of a safe, compliant laboratory environment, contributing to project execution and pilot plant support.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in related technical/scientific field or high school diploma with 2+ years laboratory/pilot plant/food production experience
• Prior experience in a laboratory, pilot plant, food manufacturing, or technical environment
• Basic computer proficiency (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and data entry into laboratory/inventory systems
• Familiarity with common laboratory/food testing equipment and ability to learn calibration/troubleshooting
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow formulas, SOPs, safety requirements, and documentation standards
• Effective verbal and written communication skills with clear sample labeling and data recording
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, hands-on environment

Responsibilities

• Prepare ingredients, formulas, and samples according to procedures and test plans
• Perform routine laboratory tests, document observations and results
• Organize and support sensory evaluations, including panel setup
• Conduct shelf-life studies with sample tracking and data recording
• Manage ingredients, samples, and laboratory supplies (labeling, storage, ordering)
• Coordinate shipping and receiving of materials and finished samples
• Operate, calibrate, and maintain laboratory equipment (mixers, scales, ovens, viscometers)
• Maintain GMP-compliant laboratory cleanliness and organization
• Support pilot plant preparation, small-scale production runs, and product trials
• Document test results, formulations, and specifications in electronic systems or lab notebooks
• Collaborate with R&D scientists and cross-functional partners to support projects
• Follow safety policies, PPE requirements, and SOPs
