Job summary

Sandia National Laboratories in Livermore, CA is seeking an Intern, R&D Undergraduate Year Round in the Bioresource and Environmental Security department. You will work on algae culture optimization, biomass generation, and analytical assays with guidance from a technical mentor.

This onsite internship involves cross-disciplinary collaboration across biology, chemistry, engineering, and data analysis. Ideal candidates are undergraduate science, engineering, or math majors with a GPA of 3.0 or

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled full-time in an accredited undergraduate program.
• Pursuing a science, engineering, or math major.
• GPA 3.0/4.0 or higher.
• Ability to work up to 25 hours/week during the academic year and up to 40 hours/week in summer.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain algae cell cultures.
• Collect biomass and water samples.
• Carry out molecular and biochemistry assays.
• Perform test runs on lab-scale/pilot-scale cultivation devices.
• Analyze experimental data and present results to the team.
