Job summary

Beacon Hill is seeking an R&D Hardware Test Technician in Durham, NC. You will configure testing hardware, assist engineers with PQPs, run tests, collect data, and document results to ensure robust product qualification.

The role requires strong mechanical skills, experience with testing, and proficiency in Excel, with collaborative work in a fast-paced R&D environment. On-site in Durham, 5 days/week.

Qualifications

  • Strong mechanical aptitude and experience with mechanical or electro-mechanical systems.
  • Experience executing tests and documenting results.
  • Proficient in Excel.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with engineers.
  • Critical thinking and troubleshooting skills.
  • Experience working in a collaborative team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Configure machines and subsystems to match testing requirements.
  • Assist engineers in creating Product Qualification Plans (PQPs).
  • Perform product and subsystem testing as defined in PQPs.
  • Collect, analyze, and interpret test data.
  • Run software installation managers to support deployment to factory and field environments.
  • Document test results in formal test reports.
  • Fabricate prototypes and test systems.
  • Build PCBs and wiring harnesses as needed.
  • Perform failure analysis on parts, assemblies, and systems.
  • Support engineers with troubleshooting and debugging electro-mechanical systems.
  • Use machine tools to fabricate prototype parts and assemblies under engineering direction.
  • Maintain test system inventory.
  • Ensure hardware and software configurations match those used in the service fleet.
  • Help keep test labs safe, organized, and ready for use.

Day to Day:
