Job summary

Stoughton Trailers, LLC is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to design and develop new transportation equipment and improve existing products, ensuring structural integrity and regulatory compliance. You will analyse feasibility considering cost, market needs, and manufacturing processes, create drawings and BOMs, and support manufacturing, sales, and vendors to deliver high-quality trailers.

This role requires a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, 3-5+ years’ experience, and FEA training,

Qualifications

  • Experience designing welded, bolted, riveted, and bonded fabricated assemblies.
  • Knowledge of material science for steel, aluminum, composites.
  • Knowledge of thermal insulating structures is a plus.
  • Strong verbal and communication skills.
  • FEA training is required.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop new transportation equipment and improve existing products.
  • Ensure structural integrity and regulatory compliance of all products.
  • Determine feasibility considering cost, market requirements, time limitations, planning, existing manufacturing processes, and other factors.
  • Generate Bills of Material (BOM) for prototypes, base model products, and custom units.
  • Apply finite element analysis and strength of materials to ensure structural integrity.
  • Plan and develop experimental test programs and oversee testing.
  • Coordinate with Manufacturing to improve processes and prevent defects.
  • Provide technical information to sales/marketing for training and quotes.
  • Interact with vendors and customers to ensure compliance and satisfaction.
  • Maintain attendance and comply with company policies.
