Job summary

Stoughton Trailers, LLC is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to design transportation equipment and improve existing products. The role focuses on validating structural integrity and regulatory compliance through analysis and testing.

You will create functional designs, develop BOMs, and collaborate with engineering and manufacturing to ensure products meet performance and cost targets. Strong communication and proficiency in FEA are essential for success.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar field.
• 1–5 years of experience.
• FEA training required.
• Experience designing welded, bolted, riveted, and bonded fabricated assemblies.
• Knowledge of steel, aluminum, and composite materials.
• Knowledge of thermal insulating structures is a plus.
• Strong verbal and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Analyzes and establishes product specifications and performance requirements.
• Conceptual design in conjunction with engineers to meet requirements; create drawings.
• Generate BOMs for prototypes, base models, and custom units.
• Apply FEA and strength-of-materials analyses to ensure structural integrity.
• Plan and develop tests; analyze results and implement design changes.
• Support manufacturing to improve processes and prevent defects.
• Provide technical information to sales and marketing for training.
