Job summary

Stoughton Trailers, LLC, based in Wisconsin, seeks a Mechanical Engineer to design and develop transportation equipment and to continuously improve existing products while ensuring structural integrity and regulatory compliance.

You will evaluate feasibility considering cost, market needs, time constraints, and manufacturing processes; generate BOMs, apply FEA, run tests, and support manufacturing, sales, and customer interactions as required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• 3–5+ years of experience in mechanical design engineering.
• Experience designing welded, bolted, riveted, and bonded fabrications; training in FEA preferred.

Responsibilities

• Analyze specifications and data to determine feasibility of proposals.
• Develop functional designs with engineering teams and create drawings to convey design intent.
• Oversee BOM creation for prototypes and products; provide layout and detail drawings.
• Apply Finite Element Analysis and strength-of-materials concepts to ensure structural integrity.
• Plan and conduct experimental tests, analyze results, and propose design modifications.
• Support manufacturing to improve processes and reduce defects.
• Provide technical information to sales/marketing and interact with customers as needed.
