Join to apply for the R&D Engineer/Scientist II role at Honeywell

There is an immediate opening for a R&D Engineer/Scientist II position in the Engineering, Design and Construction Group within our Research and Development facilities. This role involves startup and testing of new and revamped pilot plants for Research and Development, ensuring machinery and processes function correctly before data collection. The operator will work closely with engineering, crafts & services, and operations teams to troubleshoot and resolve issues during the shakedown process.

This position requires on-site presence at both Riverside/McCook and Des Plaines sites.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure HS&E performance and compliance with policies and regulations during commissioning activities.
• Develop engineering standards for pilot plant commissioning.
• Operate and be the subject matter expert on pilot plant equipment, including mechanical systems, instrumentation, and vessels.
• Review and annotate piping and instrument diagrams (P&ID).
• Troubleshoot equipment and process issues.
• Collaborate with engineering and maintenance teams for problem resolution.
• Document findings and adjustments during shakedown.
• Provide training and guidance to staff as needed.

US Person Requirement

Candidate must be a U.S. Person due to export control laws—defined as a U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or protected status in the U.S., or able to obtain export authorization.
