Join to apply for the R&D Engineer/Scientist II role at Honeywell

There is an immediate opening for an R&D Engineer/Scientist II in the Engineering, Design and Construction Group within our Research and Development facilities. This role involves startup and testing of new and revamped pilot plants for R&D, ensuring machinery and processes function correctly before data collection. The operator will collaborate with engineering, crafts & services, and operations teams to troubleshoot issues during shakedown.

This position requires on-site work at both Riverside/McCook and Des Plaines sites.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure HS&E policies and procedures are followed, and safety and environmental regulations are adhered to during commissioning activities.
  • Develop engineering standards for the commissioning of pilot plants.
  • Be the subject matter expert on pilot plant equipment, including mechanical equipment, instrumentation, and vessels.
  • Follow and interpret piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&ID).
  • Identify and troubleshoot equipment and process issues.
  • Collaborate with engineering and maintenance teams to resolve problems.
  • Document findings and adjustments during shakedown.
  • Provide training and guidance to operators and staff as needed.
