Job Description

Are you an experienced data scientist looking to join an industry-leading team? We’re seeking expertise in applied meteorology at levels II through IV.

E Source develops innovative data science applications to help utilities understand and manage their networks. Our projects include forecasting severe weather impacts and optimizing vegetation management, using machine learning, statistics, and remote sensing. Our diverse team collaborates to create solutions that enhance electric reliability and support green energy adoption.

Responsibilities
  • Fit and evaluate predictive models using numerical weather forecasts and other data in Python
  • Analyze weather impacts on utility grids, both retrospectively and prospectively
  • Collaborate with data science and engineering teams from project inception to delivery
Qualifications
Required
  • MS in atmospheric science, meteorology, engineering, mathematics, statistics, or related field, with 1+ years of applied experience, or PhD with relevant analysis
  • At least 3 years of experience with spatial-temporal weather data in industry or research, including model development and stakeholder communication
  • Extensive Python experience fitting and assessing weather predictive models
  • Experience with data analysis phases: data collection, EDA, feature engineering, deliverables
  • Teamwork experience with technical and non-technical stakeholders
Preferred
  • Expertise in remote sensing weather data
  • Knowledge of numerical weather prediction models (e.g., GFS, NAM, HRRR)
  • Experience with cloud platforms like AWS
  • Utility industry domain knowledge (electric, gas, water)
