SEKISUI Aerospace is seeking an experienced Research and Development Engineer III for our Renton, WA location. This full-time, salaried role leads R&D efforts in advanced composite materials and manufacturing technologies to support next-generation aerospace products.

You will collaborate with Engineering, Quality, and Supply Chain to scale up new materials from lab to production, driving innovation, cost reduction, and process improvements while ensuring regulatory and safety compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related engineering field and strong hands-on lab experience.
• 10+ years in R&D within a manufacturing or aerospace environment.
• Experience with composite materials and their constituents.
• Hands-on familiarity with composite manufacturing processes.

Responsibilities

• Lead multiple R&D projects with a focus on advanced materials development and budget adherence.
• Develop and optimize materials and manufacturing processes, including automation where applicable.
• Research, evaluate, and qualify composite materials and systems for aerospace use.
• Perform material characterization and data analysis; maintain material property databases.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate new materials into production.
